Shiyuan is a screenwriter and a creative writer working across multiple platforms. Her writing often explores an uneasy, ultra-modern social world in crisis, a fragmented and information-overloaded place where intimate relationships have lost their strength and meaning, incorporating surreal, absurd, and otherworldly elements within transnational contexts. Her work has been screened in the Museum of the Moving Image, the Linwood Dunn Theatre (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), Angelika Film Centre and other places. Shiyuan is currently producing a feature-length documentary about international volunteers in Education in Uganda, which is in post-production.

Shiyuan is a candidate for a Master of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film from the School of Visual Arts. Her professional experience includes working as an acquisition assistant at the Festival de Cannes and the Toronto International Film Festival. Shiyuan also works as an assistant director and camera crew on various film productions. Shiyuan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and French, and the one you are reading in right now. Overall, she is just a guest on this earth.
