The Cycle of Us:

Five Elemental Tales

Anthology Film - Screenwriter/ Showrunner

This project presents an artistic anthology of five interconnected short films, each with a distinct visual language corresponding to a traditional Chinese element—Earth, Water, Fire, Metal, and Wood. Collaborating with five different cinematographers. Each featuring an intimate two-character story, the anthology explores different forms of love and the regret that follows loss.

In "Earth," a mother and daughter navigate the failure of getting into college; in "Water," a divorced couple shares a final ferry ride; and in "Fire," childhood friends confront long-buried emotions after a dispute.

The project explores themes of familial expectations, adaptation to change, emotional transformation, and cultural heritage by merging traditional Chinese philosophy with contemporary relationship dynamics. Shot on 16mm film with minimal dialogue, the anthology creates a visually emotional journey accessible as individual pieces.
